Has anyone changed their grips? I tried going to Avon grips this weekend and noticed slop in the throttle back and forth left to Right because you no longer have the end caps to keep the grip tight like on the stock .so I ended up going back to the stock grips again .did anybody else have this problem ..Avon makes great grips but without the end cap seems to be a problem..Has to be a way around this..Stock grips are small made For Donald Trump hands that's why I went to the Avon grips....A plastic ring 1 inch may tighten the cable guide but where to get one...I may just go with a handle bar ends weights but they're so stinking expensive stainless, Cutting the new grips to install handle bare ends may not be fun..help please...

I put Avon grips on my bars; no problems at all. Did you get the "metric" grips?

Good post link..but your main problem is still play Right to left because the cable guide is wider?
I am waiting on hearing back from Avon....had this on my victory as well years back but it wasn't quite as bad .

i put avon grips on mine, there will always be some slop left to right with other grips, i put a bunch off washers in the end of the bar inside to make up for the weight being gone, as well you can by a C clip large enough to take up some of the gap in the housing its self. their is a post in here somewhere about that.

When I fitted my Avon grips on the original Triumph bars for memory there was a little bit of reduced down area at the end of the bar, I got a piece of thin black Poly Pipe ( the type used for home garden irrigation systems ) about 25mm or 1" long and slid over the end of the bar and it reduced the end play.

If you look closely it is actually 2 pieces slide over the end of the bar then another one over that and retained with some super glue.

Have used the Avons with a breakaway cruise control for about 4+yrs with absolutely no problem.

What specific model of Avon grip did you install?

I just measured the side-to-side play on my throttle grip; 0.80mm, practically nothing.

I had a similar problem... I mean challenge when I put on the Kuryakyn grips. I stacked a few washers inside the grip; I don't remember how many.
Quarters will work too. Problem solved .... I mean challenge overcome!
